Short Description

The Tübingen Bible Atlas – based on the Tübingen Atlas of the Near and Middle East (TAVO) – documents the historical geography of the biblical countries in a unique way in 29 high quality maps and extensice indices. The Atlas is primarily designed for scholarly use; but it also offers – particulary because of the attractice price – this valuable study material to a wider interest group.

The maps in this Atlas were previously only available as single sheets. They appear there for the first time in a bound Atlas.
The historical geography of the biblical countries is documented with unique precision and extensive detail on a total of 29 large format map sheets (each 72 × 49.3 cm when unfolded). The map pages are essentially comprised of a targeted selection of those original maps which are relevant to biblical science out of the epochal historical geography volume TAVO. Some maps have been revised and supplemented for the Bible Atlas. A map of archaeology and history of Sinai has been newly created and published here for the first time.
An index which has been specially compiled for the Atlas lists the rich stock of historical places and place names. The register is separatly bound and separable from the Atlas so that ist can easily be used together with the unfolded maps. The atlas is bilingual (German and English) throughout.
