Short Description

According to the last bibliography "The literatures of the peoples of the Caucasus - New translations and German-language bibliography" (2003) by Steffi Chotiwari-Jünger, this book presents a bibliography specifically for Georgian literature, which also includes the years 2000 to 2017, in there was a veritable boom in translations of Georgian works and the number of translations into German doubled.
The translated Georgian works are divided into anthologies, books, authors, anonyms and folklore, and individual works in magazines and newspapers are also listed. In addition to the bibliography, a chronological overview of the study of Georgian literature as well as the circumstances and peculiarities of translating Georgian literature into the Germanspeaking countries is given and the individual stages and the role of mediators, scientists, translators, institutions, etc. are named.

Description

The present bibliography provides detailed information on all previous translations from Georgian into German since 1887 and provides background information on the history of translations. According to the last bibliography "The literatures of the peoples of the Caucasus - New translations and German-language bibliography" (2003) by Steffi Chotiwari-Jünger, this book presents a bibliography specifically for Georgian literature, which also includes the years 2000 to 2017, in there was a veritable boom in translations of Georgian works and the number of translations into German doubled.

Dr. phil. habil. Steffi Chotiwari-Jünger
born on 24.03.1952 in Leipzig, studied (Russian, Georgian and Tadzhik) an candidate at the Berlin Humboldt University from 1971 to 1979 (including two years at the Iwane-Dshawachischwili University in Tbilisi)
Dissertation on the Georgian writer Konstantine Gamsachurdia
Habilitation on the Georgian historical novel of the 20th century
1979 to 2015 assistant, later senior assistant at the Berlin Humboldt University Berlin
(a 1990-1995 permanent senior assistant, Institute for Slavic Studies, Georgian literature / Russian literature / Russian-language literature of other national authors;
