The present study addresses various statements of music therapists regarding the subjective significance of hearing by means of the qualitative Grounded Theory Method. The purpose of this evaluation is to analyze correlations and focal points of self-reported experiential knowledge. The results are presented in three categories. The first category demonstrates how additional implicit patterns of meaning are reflected in the methodic and stylistic practice of answering. The second category depicts the experience of hearing and its relevance to three interrelated senses of self: self, other and the world. In the third part, thematic content of answers is interpreted in terms of subject areas, so-called Topoi. A discussion of implicitly and explicitly delivered ways of thinking and conceptual frameworks of action serves as reflection and development of knowledge, supported, in conclusion, by exemplary secondary literature concerning the science of hearing.

Interessant ist der Gedanke, der sich durch fast alle Artikel zieht: Dienst Supervision den Musiktherapeutinnen nicht zuletzt als netzwerkbildendes und supportives Instrument unter den Bedingungen der instabilen und prekären Situation von Musiktherapie in den deutschsprachigen Ländern? Das Bündel ist ein farbiger Strauß, eine Sammlung, die - wir Loriot gesagt hätte - auf keinem Nachttisch einer Musiktherapeutin fehlen sollte. Ich rate zum Schmökern.

„Meiner Lust am lesen und Überzeugung gehört das Buch unbedingt in den Kanon der Pflichtlektüre für Musiktherapeuten und zur Kür für andere therapie-nahe Berufsgruppen. Man sollte es vielleicht nicht auf einmal lesen, sondern aufsatzweise, als köstlich Vor- oder Nachspeise vor oder nach einem auch ansonsten guten literarischen Mahl. Das vermeidet die Überschneidung und Redundanzen, sichert Genuss und Gewinn und würdigt den je besonderen Ansatz der einzelnen Autoren. Überraschend allerdings auch, dass der Blick über den Tellerrand auf interdisziplinäre Themen und Theorien der Zuhörforschung weitgehend vermieden wurde.“
