About us
Founded in 1969, Dr. Ludwig Reichert Verlag is a leading academic publisher with a particular focus on the humanities. Our catalogue comprises publications in the fields of archaeology, art history, history, linguistics, German studies, Oriental studies, book and library science, as well as facsimile editions of significant medieval and early modern manuscripts and incunabula. Our range is complemented by manuscript catalogues and rare book collections from the holdings of selected libraries.
Quality and aesthetics are the guiding principles of our publishing house. Our books combine academic excellence with high-quality production and have received numerous awards – including recognition as one of the 50 most beautiful books in Germany.
A milestone in the history of our publishing house was the monumental Tübingen Atlas of the Near East. Since 1975, this project has produced over 130 books and around 300 detailed maps, based on years of research. - Today, these publications are also available in digital form: books and maps can be purchased both digitally and in print.
Our series reflect the thematic diversity and depth of our programme:
- Archaeology and Classical Studies
- Art History of Late Antiquity, Byzantium, the Christian East and the Middle Ages
- Medieval Studies, German Studies
Facsimile editions of historical and music-historical documents – such as the treaties of the Peace of Westphalia – form an integral part of our catalogue.
