Workshops, installations, remains from production processes, and tools are analyzed. The analysis of the organization of craft production reveals the dependency of artisans from the elites. A multi-layered picture of the artisans' quarter excavated in parts from 2000–2005 emerges, contributing significantly to a new understanding of cities in the Eastern Steppes.
