Short Description

Latin is still a crucial language for all scholars of diachronic or synchronic linguistics. But more and more students have to learn Latin in a crowded crash-course at the university, and so there is a certain need for anthologies which enable students to intensify and deepen their grammatical knowledges and at the same time inform them about the history of Latin literature. Beginning with Plautus and ending with Apicius the reader tries to show the wealth of Latin texts and to encourage students to improve their knowledge.

Indo-European studies have to take care of an abundant treasure of interesting texts in various languages, pertaining to different cultural epochs and areas. The edition of the “Texts of the Indo-Europeans” is intended to make these texts accessible for all scholars interested in the primary sources. Explanations of grammatical difficulties and detailed glossaries will enable the user to translate the texts without further aid.

Biographical Note

Born in Schwetzingen/Germany, Susanne Zeilfelder studied Indo-european linguistics in Würzburg, became D.phil. in Gießen in 1994, habilitation in 2001 in Jena. Until 2007 assistent at the chair for Indo-European studies at Jena, now research assistent in the project “Deutsche Wortfeldetymologie in europäischem Kontext” at Jena, Academy of Science Leipzig.
