Short Description
The fifth volume in the Studia Panopolitana series (Occasional Paper 5) is a festschrift presented to Klaus Peter Kuhlmann on the occasion of his 80th birthday. The articles by friends and associates who accompanied Klaus P. Kuhlmann during his four decades of archaeological work in Egypt mirror the jubilarian’s wide scope of research interests. These range from the pyramid age to the modern history of Egyptian archaeology, span the fields of archaeology, history, and linguistics and comprise the cultures of the Egyptian Nile Valley, the Libyan Desert as well as the Hellenic Mediterranean. The archaeology and history of the Akhmîm region being one of Klaus P. Kuhlmann’s major research foci.Biographical Note
Dr. Rafed El-Sayed (born 1973 in Köln) studied Egyptology and Oriental Studies at the Universität zu Köln (1999 Master of Arts, 2006 PhD in Egyptology). His research interests cover Ancient Egyptian Language and Archaeology with a focus on Greek-Roman and Late Antique Egypt, History of science, History of religions, and Cultural contacts. From 2000 until 2004 he was Research Associate in the Collaborative research Centre SFB 389 ACACIA at the Universität zu Köln. From 2005 until 2011 he held the position of Research Associate and Field Director in the archaeological Project ‘Athribis in Upper Egypt’ at Universität Tübingen. In 2012 he was awarded a Dilthey-Fellowship (Volkswagenstiftung) and currently he is directing an archaeological project (project Mîn-Panos) concerning the ‘Change of sacred landscape in the Akhmim region (Upper Egypt) in Late Antiquity’ at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen.Series Description
